The idea of an International Women's Day first arose at the turn of the 20^th century and the event is now celebrated annually on 8 March. This week Nobelprize.org pays tribute to the 40 female Nobel Laureates, who, by their work in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, Peace and Economic Sciences, have contributed great benefits to mankind.
